Our History
The work began in 1888 in the form of a "Gospel Tent", hence the original name of "Ayrshire Gospel Tent" being adopted. This portable tent, which seated approximately 100 people, was erected in most, if not all the villages in Ayrshire during its life.
Two gospel campaigns would be conducted each year lasting approximately six weeks at a time. The gospel message was proclaimed each evening by an evangelist whose occupation during the day was to visit homes telling people of the love of God and in the evening, speak to both children and adults.
The original tent had to be replaced in 1958 with a wooden sided marquee with a canvas roof, but in 1976 it was destroyed by vandals in the small village of Mossblown near the town of Ayr.
Since then, campaigns have been conducted in portable halls, town/village halls and schools as well as in Gospel halls. Around this time the name was changed to Ayrshire Gospel Outreach.
We in Ayrshire are not alone in this type of work in the United Kingdom. Many similar works are carried on in other Shires in our land. We work in conjunction with the Christian Brethren churches in the Shire and would compliment the work they would be engaged in throughout the year.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

The photo on the left gives some idea as to what the original tent looked like.
It would be much appreciated if someone could tell us when and where it was taken, and do you recognise anyone?
